The Good Planet is a creation care themed VBS that tackles important truths about God and His creation, practical and doable ways we can be good stewards of this megadiverse country we’ve been blessed with, and how we can be bearers of the Good News to people and all creation.

Children will learn to love and appreciate God’s creation through creative and fun nature activities. They will learn practical lessons on spending time outdoors, caring for our native trees, being resourceful through recycling, and learning to show compassion to others by giving, helping out, and sharing the gospel.

This VBS also provides tips and alternatives for when you decide to do VBS online or at home. 

No. The Good Planet is a totally new VBS material. We have seen the need to teach a new generation of children to love and value God’s creation and take seriously our God-given role as stewards of the Earth. Now more than ever, we see the detrimental effects of our neglect and abuse of creation which has damaged our environment and caused so much suffering not only among wildlife but also among people, particularly the poor and marginalized. We also are becoming aware of how this gadget-savvy generation has become so disconnected from nature and the outdoors, and of how such a deficit is contributing to emotional and mental health issues that have alarming consequences.

The Good Planet is designed for use by both large and small churches, so we have prepared a material that is friendly to classes with mixed-age students. The manual offers options for teachers to customize their teaching for older or younger students.

Teachers will learn to adapt the material to their context instead of simply going through the material. And having one manual for all ages makes things simple and easy as everyone is on the same page. 😃 

Having one general journal for all ages makes doing the activities easier for mixed-age classes. The Student’s Journal is carefully designed to include both simple activities for younger children and activities more suited for older ones.

There are three levels for this material:

• Children 1 (ages 7-9)
• Children 2 (ages 10-12)

That depends on the number of students you are planning to have. At the very least, your VBS staff should have a director, a secretary, a treasurer, three teachers (Beginners, Children 1, and Children 2), an assistant for each teacher, kitchen crew, and security personnel.
