Hope Garden is a VBS that aims to educate and empower people to make use of the resources God has given us—such as land, vegetable cuttings and fruit seeds, and even strength for labor—so we could live sustainably despite the prevailing economic crisis in our ever-changing world.

Children will learn to be diligent, resourceful, and most importantly, grateful for what God has given us through the guided activities, such as:

✔️ properly storing food and saving leftovers,
✔️ planning healthy meals,
✔️ cultivating their own food,
✔️ and helping others.

The two previous materials focus on loving God’s creation and becoming good stewards of it.
Hope Garden addresses two of the growing problems we have in the Philippines, which are food security and food inflation.

This theme encourages kids (and adults) to pursue sustainable and affordable solutions to these problems, such as growing their own Hope Garden, which is a place where they could grow their own vegetables and fruits. Moreover, Hope Garden also serves as a reminder for kids (and adults) that God’s provision is always sufficient for those who trust and obey Him (Philippians 4:19). 

Hope Garden is designed for use by both large and small churches, so we have prepared a material that is friendly to classes with mixed-age students. The manual offers options for teachers to customize their teaching for older or younger students.

Teachers will learn to adapt the material to their context instead of simply going through the material. And having one manual for all ages makes things simple and easy as everyone is on the same page. 

Having one general journal for all ages makes doing the activities easier for mixed-age classes. The Seedling’s Journal is carefully designed to include both simple activities for younger children and activities more suited for older ones.

That depends on the number of students you are planning to have. At the very least, your VBS staff should have a Director, a secretary, a treasurer, three teachers (Beginners, Children 1, and Children 2), an assistant for each teacher, kitchen crew, and security personnel.
