VBS Jerusalem: Back to the Holy Land, CSM’s VBS theme for 2018, had its master training last January 27, 2018 at the CSM Building in Parañaque. Ten training teams (7 from CSM, 3 from PCBS) comprising 41 trainers from all over Metro Manila, North and South Luzon (Baguio, Bulacan, and Lucena) experienced a fun-filled day of learning.
This year’s guest trainers for the breakout classes were Hannah Quindoza for Beginners (Nomads), Joanna Quindoza for Children (joint class for Children 1 and Children 2 or Pilgrims and Migrants), Joy Villegas for Youth (Backpackers), and Liza Bartolabac for the Director’s (Chieftains).
To jumpstart the whole-day training, VBS Writer and CSM Children’s Materials Editor Nikka Gonzaga gave a brief orientation on VBS Jerusalem, followed by the first plenary session on intellectual property rights led by Dr. Mhac Janapin, academic dean of the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary in Baguio. CSM trainer Sharon Alfonso led the second plenary session in the afternoon on how teachers can take charge of the classroom with love and discipline.
Right after the back demos, Training Manager and VP for Publishing Joy Solina gave a short but witty presentation on evaluation. Training Assistant Cat Santos presented the results of last year’s VBS Fearless training season, then Training Officer Ptr. Reuel Alfonso led a short but moving tribute to a long-time PCBS Lucena trainer, Mrs. Glenda Amargo, who passed away in October 2017. The master training concluded with the posting of commitments from trainers on a tarpaulin replica of the “Wailing Wall.”
The ten training teams will travel to various parts of Luzon and the Mindanao to conduct VBS training workshops on February 24, March 3, March 17, March, 24, and April 7, 2018. Click here for the VBS Jerusalem workshop schedule.
