Church Strengthening Ministry sent a team to train teachers of the Mangyan churches’ Paaralang Lingguhang Pag-aaral (PLP or Sunday school) last April 12 to 13, 2017 at the Mangyan Tribal Church Association (MTCA) training center in Wireless, Bulusan, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.  The 77 registered participants from the six (6) major Mangyan tribes in both Oriental and Occidental Mindoro spent 1.5 days learning how to share the gospel using their hand and their personal testimony, and how to use puppets in teaching children.

Longtime CSM trainers Sharon Alfonso, Joanna Quindoza, and Raquel Lomugdang led the sessions  interspersed with icebreaker games, action songs, and different kinds of claps. CSM Training Officer Ptr. Whey Alfonso gave a short message on the importance of sharing the gospel and led the praise and worship time ably assisted by his 8-year-old daughter, Mika. Sales Representative Zaldy Cadusale handled the P100 Lahat book sale of Tagalog resources for the duration of the training.

Participants were given time in small groups to practice presenting the Gospel Hand and sharing their personal story of how they met the Lord. During the last session on using puppets in teaching, participants took turns doing impromptu puppet skits on stage.

To thank MTCA and the PLP coordinators for inviting CSM to train PLP teachers a second time, Training Manager Joy Solina gave them complimentary copies of the Sunday school curriculum, The Promised Child and the Promised Savior, and Arthur Macarubbo’s Ang 70 Utos ni Jesu-Cristo Gabay sa Pag-aaral sa Maliliit na Grupo for the MTCA library.
